Longhorns
Gentons Pedigrees is a member of the SAC High health scheme and has received accreditation for BVD, IBR and Johne’s (R1). In addition, the herd is monitored for Lepto and Neospora. Finally, to help protect the herd against TB, all animals spend their life behind a badger proof fence.
Gentons monitors the weight/height/length of the growing stock regularly and has established an extensive database that allows us to compare animals born in different years. We like our heifers to have exceeded 350kg by 400 days old. For bulls, we are satisfied with about 500kg on moderate feeding.
In addition, Our Longhorn breeding herd are annually assessed as part of the NBDC Type Classification scheme.
Gentons regularly participate in the uk biggest agricultural shows and sales where our animals are often among the prize winners and leading prices. All animals that are entered to Society sales are blood tested beforehand so our customers can buy with confidence!
We welcome visitors to the farm, both for informal herd viewings and visits with a view to purchasing our stock.

James Bond has proved himself to be an exceptional breeding animal, with his offspring being sought after at sales. His daughter Gentons Sara ET was the 2019 Junior heifer of the Year.
Gentons Pedigrees is at the forefront of genetic work within the Longhorn breed. After several years of experience in traditional embryo collection and implantation, We began parallel work in IVF embryo production. The experience has been successful with the birth of the first IVF ET calves in 2020.
Here at Gentons we extensive experience satisfying the export documentation and protocol needed for various countries. A selection of embryos is available for sale, both for export and domestically.

Salers
Gentons Salers is a recent herd brought together through the importation of animals, semen and embryos from France and purchases in Scotland. All animals acquired have been blood tested beforehand.
Gentons Salers is a member of the SAC High health scheme and accredited for BVD , IBR and Johne’s (R1). In addition, the herd is monitored for Lepto and Neospora. Finally, to help protect the herd against TB, all animals spend their life behind a badger proof fence.
Gentons Salers strongly believe in the predictive power of EBVs and all the animals are recorded accordingly.
Animals are currently available for sale off farm and at society sales.
Following success with the Longhorn herd, Gentons Salers has embraced the use of imported semen and embryos to develop the herd. In 2020 the birth of the first four Salers ET calves were born which included Gentons Pasha who went on to take the Breed Championship at the Great Yorkshire show in 2021.
Gentons Salers has obtained significant experience in importing semen and embryos and would happily share its knowledge. Furthermore, the production of embryos is under way both in France and in the UK and embryos will be on sale shortly.
